For nearly 200 years, Angostura has made the world’s most famous aromatic bitters - loved by bartenders,cocktail drinkers and chefs worldwide. The exact formula is a closely guarded secret, with only one person knowing the whole recipe, passed hereditarily. The Trinidadian producers are additionally an award winning rum producer famed for their fine range of aged rums. In 2015 they launched their latest creation - the most perfect lush liqueur - Amaro di Angostura. A liqueur which could be savoured neat, on ice or used in cocktail creations. Angostura were inspired by the old world category of Amaro (Italian for bitter) and using their perfection of the art of blending created a delicious Caribbean twist on that old world classic.

It all starts with a base spirit made from the molasses which is used for their in their iconic Angostura rums. This base is infused for three months with a blend of herbs and spices – many of which can be recognised from the original bitters. Much like their bitters, the exact ingredients and measurements that go into the Angostura Amaro is a well-protected secret.
On the nose aromas of cinnamon, dark chocolate and unmistakeable Angostura aromatic bitters. The flavours explode on the tongue with warm cinnamon and licorice notes. The finish is perfectly balanced, exotic, lush and reminiscent of the essence of Trinidad and Tobago’s pulsating rhythms, tropical climate and beauty. It lasts long on the pallet and begs for another sip!
Amaro di Angostura is a complex, beautifully blended liqueur that can be served on ice or mixed with ginger beer and lime to create a delicious hi ball serve. However our favourite at the moment is to re create that cocktail bar favourite
The Old Fashioned – at home. Simply add 25ml Amaro di Angostura to 35ml of your favourite brown spirit and stir over ice. Add a twist of orange for garnish and enjoy this laziest of Old Fashioned !!
