This is one of the first bottlings from That Boutique-y Rum Company (following in the footsteps of That Boutique-y Whisky Company and That Boutique-y Gin Company). This one is a 19 year old rum from the Bellevue distillery in Guadeloupe, produced using a column still. The label features the windmill which drives the sugarcane crusher in the distillery, extracting the sugarcane juice to make the rum itself. Good job, windmill.
Fresh vegetal notes and pungent ripe banana shine through from beneath spiced ginger sweetness and a milk chocolate backdrop. There’s a vibrant greenness, too.
More grassiness and earthiness, then the banana and cooked pineapple take centre stage. There’s almost a jammy quality along with the rich cinnamon spice.
Those tropical fruits just keep on cooking!
