Originating from the Caribbean, but blended and bottled in Cognac, Spytail’s Black Ginger Rum is based on a 19th Century recipe of ageing fresh ginger root and spices in barrels of rum. The resulting spirit is rich, spicy and complex, and quite unlike anything else on the market.
The name Spytail pays reference to a legendary submarine – plans for which were discovered by the distillers who make this rum. The first mechanical submarines in the world were invented in France and tested on the Charente River which flows nearby the distillery in which Spytail is made.
These were the submarines which Jules Vernes used as the inspiration for his famous novel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Spytail Black Ginger Rum is delicious neat, on ice, with coke, ginger ale, ginger beer or as an ingredient in in a wide range of rum cocktails.
